Teen Choice Awards: Best & Worst Dressed (A 20-Something's Perspective)

Ok I'll admit, I tuned into a little bit of the Teen Choice Awards last night. Well, long enough to see some of these questionable teen celebrities (ahem..Kendall + Kyle Jenner...?) hit the red carpet.

BEST

Chelsea Kane, Ellen DeGeneres & Portia De Rossi, No Doubt
Confession, I don't know who Chelsea Kane is. I do however, enjoy her shorts and blouse combo. It's perfectly appropriate for the awards and it's the right amount of edge. It's trendy without being obnoxious.
Ellen + Portia just win all the time. They clearly never try too hard. I love the subtle detail of their semi-matching belt style.
No Doubt is back and they've never looked better. They're put together without being too matchy-matchy. Clearly, blonde is in.

WORST

Ashley Benson, Hayden Panettiere, Jordin Sparks

Second confession, I have no idea who Ashley Benson is, but I bet she (or her stylist) had good intentions with this outfit. Unfortunately, the whole look is just unflattering. The overly styled hair and awkward fitting trousers are just kind of sad.
I'm sorry, Hayden Panettiere, but this dress (and perfectly matching heels) would look better on Malibu beach Barbie.
Jordin Sparks wore a bubble skirt, halter number to the awards last night. The embroidery and bubble skirt just screams 90s to me (and not in the good way).

MEH

I'm on the fence with Selena Gomez. Her dress and was just kind of boring to me. She looks cute, and simple but for an awards show she could have taken a little more risk.

Thoughts?

Love/Hate: Wedge Sneakers

photo from InStyle

After some deliberation, I've decided that they're just not something I could get into..(maybe only if I could pull them off like Kate Bosworth) Tons of brands are hopping on this trend (just check Nasty Gal) but the most popular are the Isabel Marants. What are your thoughts on these high fashion trainers?

The Bay's Canadian Olympic Team Collection: 5 Pieces I Would Actually Wear

Anyone else excited that the Olympics are a week away!? Canadians aren't feeling the hype as much this year since the Olympics are way across the pond, but still, I'm excited. The 2010 Olympics in Vancouver were just insane, and to be honest, I'm glad that craziness won't be back for a while. So as they do every Olympic season, HBC released their 2012 Team Canada Olympic collection and among the array of tshirts and sweats, there are actually some really cool, wearable pieces. Case in point:

Do you guys own anything from the HBC Olympic collection?

Dr. Scholls knows whats up

Let’s face it, not all of us have perfect balance, great circulation and beautiful slender feet. But a great pair of heels is worth the pain..right? I can't even tell you how many times I've bought the perfect shoes only to find they are sooo uncomfortable. Yeah, there are certain shoes that deserve to sit on a shelf and be gawked at but personally, I wanna wear my pretty shoes. Sometimes I feel like putting inserts in my heels is 'cheating' but who cares! Stop gritting through that smile every time you take step and embrace comfort.

While five inch stilettos are beautiful to look at, they aren’t the most comfortable option. So? If we all thought like that, we'd be wearing new balances and sweatpants. There are some great accessories on the market that go directly inside your shoe that are virtually invisible. Trust me, your feet will thank you. Specially designed for heels, shoe liners provide ]comfort in all the right areas. Aching heels and swollen arches rejoice, these discrete liners will change the way you wear heels.

Are your shoes constantly slipping off your heel? Not anymore. Many brands have designed heel inserts that keep your foot firmly in place in any type of shoe. Stop stuffing ten band-aids in your purse before you leave the house! Simply place the insert at the back of your shoe behind your heel and the padded cushions do the rest. Adding security and comfort, this simple addition to your shoe will add hours of daily wear.

We all love a good pair of flats for those days when we want a day off from heels. I love wearing flats in the summer, but when the weather gets hot it’s difficult to keep your flats feeling fresh and smelling new. Socks are obviously not an option, but sockettes are the perfect solution to keep your feet smelling fresh and your flats in good shape. Like a smaller, more discrete sock, sockettes fit snugly over the foot and hidden in your flats. No one will even know you’re wearing them! Retailing for about $5 CAD a pair, sockettes are a seriously underrated product.

I remember when I discovered sockettes, foot petals and shoe liners, they changed my life (no exaggeration). I thought to myself "why did no one tell me about these things". Share the love, people.

Listen to your mother, put on a hat.

Ok so I don't know about you guys, but it's hot in the middle of Canada right now. Like, too hot. Hot enough that my last few tweets have been about air conditioners...

Anyways,

I've been admiring Zanita's and Carolina's penchant for baseball hats recently on their Instagrams and I've decided that I'm into these hats. Plus, they're practical!?! Baseball hats are one of those accessories that you just have to not doubt yourself on and go for it. There's a fine line between looking like a weird nerdy sporty girl (also kind of into that), and being effortlessly cool (pun intended). Extra points if your hat has some kind of reference to New York on it.
